For the second time, Antibes is set to host the best international riders of Skateboarding, Roller, BMX, Freestyle Scootering, and Breaking during the Azur Freestyle Show, an event celebrating the essence of urban sports and freestyle culture.
The event will take place at the Azur Arena Antibes on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, 2024, offering a packed program of thrilling performances and exciting competitions.
In addition to spectacular displays, the Azur Freestyle Show features a contest open to Roller and BMX Freestyle Park riders, divided into three categories: Junior, Women, and Open, giving emerging talent the chance to compete alongside the best in the world.
An Olympic discipline since 2020, BMX Freestyle Park is one of the most popular urban sports. Featuring breathtaking tricks on ramps and structures, riders showcase their technical skills and originality to impress the judges.
This discipline blends technique and creativity on flat surfaces. Riders use 20-inch bikes to perform moves that resemble a dance, balancing technical precision and artistic flair. Professional runs can last up to three minutes.
Evolving from a simple mode of transport to a cultural phenomenon, Skateboarding is now an emblem of urban sports. Its inclusion as an Olympic discipline at Tokyo 2020 has only enhanced its global appeal, inspiring creativity and lifestyle trends worldwide.
Freestyle Scootering, a fast-growing discipline, takes inspiration from BMX but has carved out its own identity. Accessible to younger riders, it has seen the development of increasingly complex tricks, with the rotating handlebars enabling unique and spectacular moves.
In Roller Freestyle, speed and smoothness are key to performing aerial tricks and slides. With special wheels and a slick underside, riders glide gracefully on ramps and metal surfaces, maintaining the artistic spirit of the sport.
Now an Olympic discipline, Breaking originated in the Bronx during the 1970s. This urban art form combines acrobatic movements and music, emphasizing personal style and rhythm. Performances feature four main techniques: Toprock, Downrock, Power Moves, and Freezes, blending technical mastery with self-expression.
The Azur Freestyle Show 2024 promises two days of adrenaline and excitement, with the world’s top riders ready to compete and captivate the audience.
