Concerts at the Prince’s Palace of Monaco 2026: Juraj Valčuha and Sayaka Shoji Star in an Exceptional Symphony Evening

Great music returns to one of the Principality’s most prestigious venues with the Concerts at the Prince’s Palace of Monaco 2026, one of the most anticipated cultural events of the summer season. On Thursday, July 30, at 9:30 p.m., the magnificent Cour d’Honneur of the Prince’s Palace will host a new performance by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring two internationally acclaimed artists: conductor Juraj Valčuha and violinist Sayaka Shoji.

Following the success of the first concerts of the season and the special performance of the ballet “La Dame aux Camélias” at the Grimaldi Forum, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra returns to the historic residence of the Princes of Monaco for an evening dedicated to the masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire.

A musical journey through Bernstein, Sibelius and Prokofiev

The evening will open with the Overture from “Candide” by Leonard Bernstein, conducted by Juraj Valčuha. Written in 1956 for the famous operetta inspired by Voltaire’s novel, this brilliant piece is renowned for its vibrant energy, dynamic rhythms and the prominent role of brass and percussion instruments.

The programme will continue with Jean Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D minor, one of the most celebrated works in the international violin repertoire. The solo part will be performed by Japanese violinist Sayaka Shoji, recognised worldwide for her expressive depth and refined musical interpretation.

Sibelius’ concerto, characterised by powerful emotions and inspired by the landscapes of Northern Europe, represents one of the greatest achievements of early 20th-century violin literature and will create a unique atmosphere beneath the arches of the Cour d’Honneur.

The evening will conclude with the First Suite from Sergei Prokofiev’s ballet “Cinderella”, a work that transforms the famous fairy tale into a rich orchestral journey filled with elegance, colour and imagination.
