Science Festival in Monaco 2026: research, environment and science communication at Espace Léo Ferré

An afternoon dedicated to discovering the scientific research carried out in the Principality and meeting the people working across a wide range of scientific fields. This is the focus of the 2026 Science Festival in Monaco, taking place on Wednesday, September 30, from 2pm to 6pm at Espace Léo Ferré.

The event is free and open to everyone, offering visitors the opportunity to explore research activities, projects and scientific programmes through workshops, demonstrations, interactive experiences and discussions with experts.

Bringing Monaco’s scientific research closer to the public

The event is organized by the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology of Monaco and the Scientific Centre of Monaco, with the participation of numerous scientific, institutional and non-profit organizations working in research, science communication and environmental protection.

The Science Festival provides a meeting point between the scientific community and the public, making research and scientific topics more accessible beyond academic and specialist circles.

From marine biodiversity to prehistoric research, healthcare and nature conservation, the programme highlights the wide range of scientific disciplines represented in the Principality.

From prehistoric research to marine science

Among the participating institutions is the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology, founded by Prince Albert I and recognized as a major reference point for prehistoric research in Monaco.

The Scientific Centre of Monaco will also take part, alongside a broad network of organizations working in fields ranging from biological and environmental research to healthcare, ecosystem protection and international scientific cooperation.

Participants will also include the Monegasque Association for the Protection of Nature (AMPN), the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Princess Grace Hospital Centre, the Monaco Speleological Club, the Monaco Zoological Garden and the Exotic Garden of Monaco.

The programme also brings together international organizations involved in environmental and marine ecosystem protection, including Pelagos, CIESM, ACCOBAMS and RAMOGE, as well as the Monegasque Association of Prehistory, the IAEA, the Oceanographic Institute – Fondation Albert Ier and the Museum of Stamps and Coins.

Workshops, demonstrations and interactive activities

One of the main features of the Science Festival will be the opportunity to experience scientific research at close range.

Throughout the afternoon, visitors will be able to take part in activities, workshops, experiments and demonstrations, while meeting researchers and discovering some of the tools and methods used across different scientific disciplines.

The aim is to make science communication more engaging and hands-on, particularly for children, young people and families.

Several activities will also focus on the marine environment and biodiversity of the Principality.

A focus on Monaco’s Marine Protected Areas

Special attention will be given to Monaco’s Marine Protected Areas. The Monegasque Association for the Protection of Nature will offer interactive and educational activities exploring the importance of marine ecosystems and the research and conservation programmes designed to protect them.

The activities will highlight the connection between scientific research and biodiversity conservation, showing how studying and monitoring marine ecosystems can contribute to their long-term protection.

An afternoon of science open to everyone

The Science Festival offers an opportunity to discover Monaco’s scientific community through an accessible event designed for a broad audience.

By bringing together institutions, associations and scientific organizations with different areas of expertise, the event provides an overview of activities ranging from archaeology and prehistoric research to medicine, biodiversity and ocean conservation.
