The Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) continues to reinforce its international standing in the global yachting industry by focusing on three strategic pillars: technological innovation, education for younger generations, and environmental sustainability. The roadmap for the coming months was outlined by H.S.H. Prince Albert II during the traditional welcome cocktail for new members, held on Friday June 26, 2026.
The event, chaired by the Sovereign alongside the Board of Directors, brought together around 2,500 members from 82 nationalities, including the induction of approximately thirty new members.
In his speech, Prince Albert II emphasized the Club’s dual identity:
“The Yacht Club de Monaco is deeply rooted in our country, but its vocation is decidedly international.”
This vision is reflected in a series of initiatives designed to strengthen Monaco’s global maritime presence and promote its nautical heritage worldwide.
One of the highlights of summer 2026 will be the roadshow along the U.S. East Coast, organized for the 4th of July celebrations and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence.
The historic yachts Tuiga (1909) and Viola (1908) will represent the Yacht Club de Monaco in New York, taking part in the major maritime parade Sail4th 250, which will gather around 50 tall ships from about twenty countries.
The voyage will continue along the East Coast with stops in Newport and Nantucket, further reinforcing the Club’s role as an international ambassador of maritime heritage and Monegasque expertise.
From July 8 to 11, 2026, the Yacht Club de Monaco will host the 13th edition of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, one of the world’s leading events dedicated to sustainable marine mobility.
The competition will bring together:
Since its launch in 2014, the event has involved more than 6,500 students from around 50 universities, becoming a real-world laboratory for testing and developing next-generation marine propulsion technologies.
Education remains one of the Yacht Club’s core priorities.
The La Belle Classe Academy, founded in 2015, is now an internationally recognized training hub for the yachting industry. Its programs are accredited by leading institutions such as:
Key initiatives include:
The Club will also continue promoting maritime careers through the YCM Yachting Student Fair, scheduled for March 13, 2027, dedicated to career guidance in the yachting sector.
The Yacht Club de Monaco continues its commitment to sustainable yachting through the SEA Index®, an environmental rating system launched in 2020 in partnership with Credit Suisse (UBS Group).
In 2026, the initiative reaches new milestones:
Prince Albert II highlighted the strategic importance of this evolution, noting its expanded scope while maintaining a strict, independent methodological approach.
The evening also celebrated the 10th anniversary of Team Malizia, founded by Pierre Casiraghi, Vice President of the Yacht Club de Monaco.
Over the past decade, the team has become a leading force in offshore sailing, demonstrating that:
can successfully coexist.
Concluding his speech, Prince Albert II quoted William Butler Yeats:
“In dreams begins responsibility.”
He added:
“Individually we inspire. Collectively we build the future: in service of youth, the sea and the promotion of the Principality.”
A statement that perfectly encapsulates the Yacht Club de Monaco’s mission: combining maritime tradition, innovation and environmental commitment to shape the future of global yachting.
