The Embassy of Monaco in Italy gathered, on Friday, January 31 in Rome, the Consuls of Monaco in Italy and other countries of the Ambassador’s accreditation for its annual consular working meeting.
This traditional meeting at the beginning of the year is a privileged moment for both reflection and momentum, to frame and coordinate the key actions to be taken in 2025 to promote and enhance the international standing of the Principality.
Among these, the travels of H.S.H. Prince Albert II to Italy remain a key moment in strengthening ties with this neighboring and friendly country. After his visits to Tuscany, Rome, and Sicily last year, the Sovereign will resume in particular his visits to Italian municipalities that are part of the network of Grimaldi historical sites of Monaco, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year. Several initiatives are planned in this regard in collaboration with the mayors of these municipalities and the President of the Italian association “Siti Storici Grimaldi di Monaco,” Mr. Fulvio Gazzola, Mayor of Dolceacqua, whom the Ambassador had welcomed a few weeks earlier at the Embassy for the third annual general assembly of the association.
The promotion of Monaco’s attractiveness will also receive special attention with the organization of a special operation in 2025 in collaboration with Monaco Private Label.
The Principality will also continue to be actively involved in promoting the Francophonie in Italy, following the renewal in July of H.E. Ms. Anne Eastwood’s mandate for two years within the Executive Committee of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors (GAF). This group, which brings together the Heads of diplomatic missions from French-speaking countries accredited to Italy, the Holy See, or UN agencies based in Rome, carries out various initiatives to support multilingualism and cultural diversity, including organizing the annual Rome Francophone Film Festival.
H.E. Ms. Eastwood also reminded that, after her trips to Malta and San Marino in early 2024, and presenting her Letters of Credence in Croatia in October and Romania in December, she is now accredited as Monaco’s Ambassador to the six countries under the Embassy’s jurisdiction.
With the support of the consular network, the Embassy will continue to work to develop ties with all of these countries and promote Monaco’s economic and cultural influence.
The meeting concluded with a friendly dinner at the Residence, which was also attended by H.E. Mr. Philippe Orengo, Ambassador of Monaco to the Holy See, who is responsible this year for the Monegasque program around the Jubilee celebrations.
