Villa Paloma in Monaco: Visionary Art and Culinary Experimentation in September

MONACO — In September, the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Paloma presents a programme that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of an art exhibition, bringing together contemporary art, gastronomy, research and experimentation. Two events, taking place on September 10 and 22, 2026, will invite visitors to explore the visionary world of Victor Brauner, the central figure of the exhibition Victor Brauner, L’Aventure magique.

The aim is to create an experience that engages not only the eye, but also the senses and the intellect. Villa Paloma provides an especially fitting setting for experimenting with new forms of dialogue between different disciplines.

Villa Paloma and Victor Brauner: When Art Becomes an Experience

The first event will take place on Thursday, September 10 at 6 p.m., with Le Tout dans le tout, a project conceived by artist and chef in residence Soline Bredin.

The initiative is the result of a year-long programme developed with students from Lycée Rainier III, transforming research into Victor Brauner’s work into a culinary experience.

At the heart of the project is the concept of alchemy, understood both as a process of transforming matter and as a metaphor for artistic creation. Fermentation, the transformation of ingredients and culinary experimentation thus become tools for exploring Brauner’s imagery through a language different from the purely visual.

The evening will begin with a guided tour of the exhibition Victor Brauner, L’Aventure magique. Visitors will then be invited to a tasting in the gardens of Villa Paloma or, in the event of bad weather, on the ground floor of the museum.

Victor Brauner, Alchemy and the Search for the Invisible

Soline Bredin’s culinary experience is more than simply a programme accompanying the exhibition. The project forms part of a broader reflection on Victor Brauner’s artistic universe, in which transformation and the exploration of the unknown are central elements.

His work grew out of a desire to move beyond visible reality, creating images and symbols capable of evoking other dimensions. This tension towards the invisible makes the encounter with culinary practice particularly meaningful, as cooking is itself fundamentally based on the transformation of matter.

September 22: A Lecture on Victor Brauner’s Visionary Art

The second event of the month will take place on Tuesday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. and will focus more directly on the artist himself.

Art historian Camille Morando, curator of the exhibition, will present the lecture L’art visionnaire de Victor Brauner au sein d’une collection privée exceptionnelle.

A lecturer at the École du Louvre and head of documentation for the modern collections at the Centre Pompidou, Morando will guide the audience through Brauner’s complex artistic trajectory, exploring his relationship with Surrealism, his visionary approach and his continuous search for forms capable of transcending the limits of ordinary perception.

The lecture will also provide an opportunity to examine the distinctive nature of the Villa Paloma exhibition, which brings together works from an important private collection in Monaco.

Victor Brauner, L’Aventure magique traces the work of an artist whose practice is deeply connected to imagination, symbolism and the search for a reality beyond what can immediately be perceived.
