Inaugurated last July by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, the Maison du Numérique offers support in digital technology to Monegasque citizens, residents, and workers. The project is led by the Princely Government, Monaco Telecom, and the Monaco City Hall, as part of the Principality’s digital transformation program, Extended Monaco. This unique venue, located in the heart of the Jardins d’Apolline, has already welcomed 1,500 people.
On Monday, February 19, the Interministerial Delegation for Digital Transition (DITN), the Monegasque operator, and the teams from Maison du Numérique gathered to take stock and unveil the program for the year. Equipped with interactive terminals and a wide range of computer and digital equipment (smartphones, tablets, computers, smart TVs, fiber modems, WiFi terminals, etc.), Maison du Numérique has hosted 250 users each month in a fully adaptable space, primarily Monegasques and residents with an average age of around 65 years. The programming is diverse and offers tailored support based on needs:
During the press conference, Pascal Rouison, Head of DITN, reiterated the common ambition of public and private stakeholders in the Principality of Monaco: to make digital technology accessible to everyone in a context where it has become an essential pillar for city-states like Monaco, both economically and in daily life.
“Digital technology in Monaco has been successful for 5 years. But it only makes sense if it is inclusive. Contrary to popular belief, seniors are not the only ones impacted by the digital divide. Our role is to provide the population with the keys to understanding digital products and services deployed in the territory and to support them in facing new technological disruptions such as artificial intelligence.”
Martin Peronnet, CEO of Monaco Telecom, reaffirmed the importance of offering a solution to every user to develop trust, increase everyone’s knowledge, and maintain a close service dear to the Monegasque operator.
“We are well aware that innovation is pointless if it is not shared by everyone. Maison du Numérique is a major step forward in the proximity and support we want to offer to each of our customers.”
In conclusion, Anthony Boccone, Head of Maison du Numérique, unveiled the program for the coming months, with new workshops on the agenda, such as the discovery of the Mon Espace Domaines application, best practices for social networks, or the use of ChatGPT. He also announced the implementation of workshops conducted in English and new event formats to include other communities, such as young professionals, parents, or people with disabilities.
“The digital transition requires resources and tailored support for everyone. Thanks to Maison du Numérique, everyone can follow this evolution at their own pace.”
