On Friday, August 15, at 5:30 p.m., Monaco will be filled with music and spirituality to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary with an exceptional event. The Association Culturelle Méditerranéenne (ACMÉ) presents the concert “Gloire à Marie” at the Église du Sacré-Cœur, 14 Chemin de la Turbie.

The programme, entirely dedicated to the Virgin, features masterpieces by Mozart, Saint-Saëns, Mascagni, Cherubini, Franck and Boëllmann, blending famous sacred works with lesser-known gems of the classical repertoire. The evening will feature tenor Franck Asparte, whose voice resonates with depth and spirituality, accompanied by Jean-Christophe Aurnague, titular organist of the church, performing on the majestic Brondino Vegezzi-Bossi romantic-symphonic organ, installed in 2016.

Nicknamed the “Sistine Chapel of the Principality,” the Église du Sacré-Cœur is an artistic treasure built between 1926 and 1929 by Italian Jesuits. Its walls, entirely frescoed by Italian artist Filippo Franzoni and recently restored by teams from the Louvre and Versailles, offer a visual setting of rare beauty. Among the biblical scenes stands out The Forgiven Sinner, painted in reverse to deliver a spiritual message to those leaving the church.

The concert lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes without intermission, and admission is free until seating is full.
