On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the city of Menton will dedicate an entire day to raising awareness about disability with a public event open to everyone at Les Sablettes. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Voûte No. 1 will host a free event designed to promote inclusion, dialogue and understanding of different forms of disability through educational activities, interactive workshops and live performances.

The initiative is part of the month dedicated to disability organized by the City of Menton and represents an important opportunity for citizens, families, healthcare professionals and social associations to come together and engage around inclusion and accessibility.

The main goal of the day is to create greater awareness, break down stereotypes and encourage direct dialogue with the public, turning awareness into a concrete and shared experience.

An Event to Better Understand Different Forms of Disability

Disability Awareness Day at Les Sablettes was created to offer an open and accessible space where visitors can explore issues related to social inclusion and diversity.

Thanks to the collaboration with numerous medical-social organizations in the region, visitors will be able to receive information, speak with specialized professionals and discover the work of associations that support people with disabilities every day.

Professionals, educators and volunteers will be present throughout the day to answer questions, provide guidance and share experiences that help build stronger collective awareness.

The event aims to go beyond simple information-sharing and become a true moment of human connection, involving both adults and children in a direct and meaningful way.

Interactive Workshops and Inclusive Activities for the Whole Family

One of the most important aspects of the event will be the wide range of workshops designed for families and visitors of all ages.

Among the planned activities are sensory workshops, helping participants better understand experiences related to perception and communication, an introduction to para-handball, an increasingly popular inclusive sport, and an educational treasure hunt focused on discovering disability through movement and participation.

Special attention will also be given to sign language discovery, an essential tool for communication and inclusion, allowing participants to approach the world of deafness and language accessibility in a practical and engaging way.

One of the most anticipated moments will be the inclusive walk connecting Les Sablettes to Port de Garavan, a symbolic and participatory route combining sport, sharing and awareness.

The activities will be co-led by the teams of the Educational Leisure and After-School Service together with students from the IUT of Menton, further strengthening the educational and community value of the initiative.

Shows, Music and Theatre: The Full Program of the Day

Alongside workshops and awareness activities, the day will be enriched by a performance program designed to involve the public in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The official opening is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with the Compagnie des Cyclopes, presenting a theatrical performance that will launch the event.

At 11:30 a.m., dance will take center stage with the Association LRC, which will return at 1:30 p.m. for a singing performance.

At 2:00 p.m., the Association “Si on chantait” will perform, followed at 2:45 p.m. by the performance of the ULIS class of Saint-Exupéry, a particularly meaningful moment highlighting the artistic talent and expression of the students involved.

At 3:30 p.m., children from the IME class, together with specialized educator Amandine, will present a theatre performance dedicated to inclusion and creativity.

The day will conclude from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a musical performance by Alison, ending the event with a final shared moment of music and celebration.

A Free Event to Build a More Inclusive Community

Participation in Menton’s Disability Awareness Day is completely free and does not require prior registration, reflecting the city’s desire to make the initiative truly accessible to everyone.

The event represents not only an important opportunity for awareness, but also a concrete message of openness and inclusion for the entire community.

At a time when social dialogue and the appreciation of diversity are becoming increasingly important, events like this show how a culture of inclusion can be built through simple, shared and meaningful experiences.

On May 2, 2026, at Les Sablettes in Menton, disability will not be presented as a limitation, but as an opportunity for understanding, participation and collective growth.
