Menton celebrates Saint Michael with tradition and conviviality

On September 26 and 27, 2026, Menton will once again celebrate the traditional Saint Michael’s Festival, an event dedicated to the city’s patron saint and deeply rooted in local traditions.

Throughout the weekend, the city will host activities dedicated to agriculture, local producers and traditional crafts, with a programme designed to appeal to residents and visitors of all ages.

The festival offers an opportunity to rediscover the region’s rural and gastronomic heritage through markets, entertainment, children’s activities and moments of conviviality.

Local producers’ market and farm animals

On Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, from 10 am to 6 pm, the Esplanade du Bastion will host a range of activities celebrating the local area.

One of the main attractions will be the local producers’ market, alongside an area dedicated to agriculture. Visitors will also be able to see a variety of farm animals, including cows, pigs, sheep and donkeys, offering an insight into the region’s rural traditions.

Children will also have a special place in the programme. Throughout the two days, free workshops focused on agriculture and traditional crafts will give younger visitors the chance to discover local history and traditional activities.

The programme combines local culture, discovery and entertainment in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Saturday evening: music and a guinguette atmosphere

The celebrations on Saturday, September 26 will continue into the evening.

From 6 pm to 10 pm, the Mail du Bastion will host a guinguette-style evening featuring food trucks, live music and entertainment on stage.

The event will offer a relaxed and festive atmosphere, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy the Saint Michael’s celebrations into the evening.

Sunday, September 27: the Saint Michael procession

Sunday will focus on the religious heart of the celebrations.

At 10 am, a solemn Mass will be held in honour of Saint Michael. The traditional procession will then set off between 11.15 and 11.30 am, heading towards the Esplanade Francis-Palmero, where it is expected to arrive at around 12.15 pm.

The procession is one of the central moments of the festival, continuing a religious tradition that forms part of Menton’s cultural and local identity.

Traditional ceremonies of the confraternities

Following the procession, the programme will include the traditional induction ceremonies of the Confrérie des Magistrats du Citron and the Confrérie de l’Étiquette du Mentonnais.

The ceremonies highlight the close connection between the Saint Michael’s celebrations and local traditions, particularly those linked to the culture, products and activities that characterise the Menton area.

The traditional Saint Michael’s lunch

Sunday’s celebrations will continue at 1 pm with one of the most eagerly anticipated events: the official Saint Michael’s lunch, held at the Esplanade Francis-Palmero.

The menu will feature traditional roast pork, served with ratatouille and potatoes, followed by a homemade lemon tiramisu, celebrating the flavours and products associated with Menton.

The lunch costs €18 per person.

Saint Michael’s Festival in Menton: practical information

Saint Michael’s Festival in Menton is free to attend, with the exception of the official Sunday lunch.

The market of local producers and artisans will be open on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, from 10 am to 6 pm, at the Mail du Bastion, while other activities will take place at the Esplanade du Bastion and the other locations included in the programme.
