The Cellars of the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo have received a new prestigious international distinction: the renowned American magazine Wine Spectator has awarded them the Best of Award of Excellence 2026, one of the most respected honours in the global wine industry.

This recognition highlights a unique collection, considered among the most exceptional wine selections ever housed in a hotel, and confirms the role of the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer cellars as a leading destination for wine enthusiasts, collectors and professionals from around the world.

A unique wine heritage in the heart of Monaco

Located beneath the historic Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo, the cellars are a true hidden treasure of the Principality. Their history dates back to 1874, when Marie Blanc, wife of Monte-Carlo founder François Blanc, commissioned their creation by having the underground galleries carved directly into the rock.

More than 12 metres below ground, these remarkable spaces provide ideal conditions for wine preservation and today house an extraordinary collection including approximately:

  • 300,000 bottles;
  • more than 11,000 wine references;
  • around 1,500 square metres of cellar space.

Following a major renovation completed in 2025, the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo Cellars continue to represent one of the greatest symbols of gastronomic excellence and luxury hospitality in Monaco.

The Monte-Carlo Cellars play a central role in the Resort’s culinary offering, supplying wines and prestigious selections to around thirty restaurants and bars within the group.

Beyond their operational role, the cellars have become an exclusive destination for wine lovers, offering private tours, exceptional tastings and unique dining experiences that reveal one of the world’s finest wine collections.

Since 2025, the cellars have also been home to the Cercle des Caves de Monte-Carlo, a private initiative dedicated to collectors and enthusiasts, offering exclusive events, confidential tastings and opportunities to discover rare vintages and prestigious international wine estates.

Wine Spectator celebrates Monte-Carlo excellence

The award recognises not only the richness of the collection, but also the expertise of the teams dedicated every day to preserving, enhancing and selecting some of the finest wines from the world’s greatest wine regions.

With more than 150 years of history, the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo Cellars remain a symbol of prestige, tradition and innovation, reinforcing Monaco’s position as an international capital of fine dining and the art of living.
