The 11th edition of the Mountain Festival will take place in Saint-Paul de Vence from Friday, November 22 to Sunday, November 24, 2024.

This initiative, which began in 2012, was founded by a group of mountain enthusiasts with the aim of showcasing high-altitude activities through unforgettable moments and experiences. The festival features adventure films, meetings with top athletes, and unexpected activities.

The event is organized by the Festi’sports de Montagne association in partnership with the Municipality of Saint-Paul de Vence.

For three days, participants will have the chance to “challenge the impossible,” even in hostile and unpredictable environments, as well as engage in captivating storytelling sessions with experts.

The festival is dedicated to exploring mountain activities and preparing for future adventures. Experts in their respective fields, seasoned athletes, and adventurers will share their passions through the screening of images from their latest expeditions.

The featured adventures are often extreme, with their motivations, preparations, and risk management sparking curiosity and deep interest.

Program Overview:

Friday, November 22, 2024
Festival Opening, Savoyard Dinner, and Film Night

  • 6:00 PM on the terrace of the Auditorium, 150 Route des Serres: Welcome cocktail and XXL Savoyard dinner under the stars (menu includes mountain soup and fromage blanc with blueberries).
  • 8:30 PM at the Auditorium, 150 Route des Serres:
    • Preview of the documentary film “Sous les glaces”, directed by Bruno Fromento and produced by the Regard sur l’Aventure Association. The debate will be led by Benjamin Guigonnet, with the presence of a speleologist.
    • Screening of the film “La ligne de l’Ange”, directed by Bertrand Delapierre and produced by Natura Film.

  • 2:30 PM: Meet at the Tourist Office, 2 Rue Grande, for a guided walk through the natural surroundings, organized by the Tourist Office.
  • 8:00 PM at the Auditorium, 150 Route des Serres:
    • Preview of the film “Chronoception” by Guillaume Broust. A subsequent discussion will be moderated by Benjamin Guigonnet and Hélias Millerioux.
    • Screening of “Les Jours Sauvages” by Yohan Guignard, with a discussion moderated by Benjamin Guigonnet and Hélias Millerioux.

All Day, Place de Gaulle and Place de la Courtine: Events, Workshops, and Activities

  • Highlights include a giant zip line and rappelling from the bastions, numerous team challenges such as a mini Block Contest (climbing competition on the bastions), an introduction to slacklining, mountain rescue demonstrations, and a writing workshop for both adults and children.
  • Several stands will be set up to discover the world of mountain sports, including:
    • Antique books, art stands, stands by the Fédération Française Montagne Escalade 06, Parc des Préalpes d’Azur, Vesubia Mountain Park, and the Valberg Station.
    • Food stands for those looking to eat on-site.

The festival promises to be an enriching experience for all outdoor enthusiasts, offering a blend of education, adventure, and the spirit of the mountains.
