The Femmes en Scènes Festival celebrates its 15th anniversary!

For 15 years, the FEMMES EN SCÈNES festival has worked to spotlight female artists and themes. The priorities of this festival, created in 2009 to celebrate International Women’s Rights Day, are to offer diverse and mixed stages, blend genres, and fight against sexist stereotypes. ESPACE MAGNAN, a long-standing partner of the Festival, is delighted to host this new edition.

EXHIBITION: POP’EXPO, FROM THE WORKSHOP TO THE FASHION SHOW

From 17/02 to 31/03/2024 from 11 AM to 6 PM.

The exhibition traces the history of the Carnival, from its creation in 1873 to the present day, highlighting floats and costumes inspired by pop culture.

You can discover original creations with characters from movies, TV series, comics, and video games.

It also pays tribute to the Carnival artisans, who are the true creators of the event.

EXHIBITION: HENRI DAUMAN – THE MANHATTAN DARKROOM

This retrospective of the unpublished work of French photographer Henri Dauman marks the last collaboration with the photographer, who died on September 13, 2023, in New York.

EXHIBITION: MARTINE DOYTIER, A RETROSPECTIVE

This exhibition is the first retrospective dedicated to Martine Doytier. It brings together all her known works to date.

Martine Doytier was an artist in Nice from 1971 to 1984. Over thirteen years, she developed captivating work.

Her keen eye and ability to sketch characters and tell their stories have produced a corpus of works in constant evolution and led her to undertake what would be her last unfinished work: “Self-portrait,” a painting she worked on for five years that passionately describes her daily world.

The Jules Chéret Museum of Fine Arts, the Palais Lascaris, the Musée Masséna, and the Cessole Library present the exhibition Living for Art.

The Trachel and Rothschild collections in Nice. The exhibition highlights the works generously donated to the city of Nice by these two great families. These donations, made between 1892 and 1912, include over seventeen hundred works of various types: archaeological objects, drawings, watercolors, paintings, sculptures, prints, but also furniture, ceramics, and fabrics. They constitute the core of Nice’s museum collections.

The National Sports Museum presents Les Elles des Jeux, which showcases the spectacular progress made over 130 years, from the almost exclusion of women to the struggle for equality.

THE EXHIBITION ROUTE

In an immersive and interactive setting, the Les Elles des Jeux exhibition retraces over 130 years of our contemporary society through the stories of emblematic women with exemplary destinies. The exhibition is divided into 6 sections, both chronological and thematic. With “Elles ne sont pas les bienvenues” (They are not welcome), the exhibition begins its journey through time with the first Olympic Games of the modern era.
