The journey of women in jazz is a long path, scattered with challenges and pitfalls. This is what the “Caroline Gsell Quintet” will intimately narrate on Thursday, February 15, at 7:30 PM, during the first concert in the city of Cap d’Ail in its brand-new performance venue, Les Funambules.

Long marginalized, artists like Ella, Billie, Sarah, and many other exceptional women have had to face social, cultural, and historical difficulties. They have given their passion to jazz, along with the joys and sorrows of their lives.

Caroline Gsell and her musicians invite you to resonate with the greatest hits of 10 Divas who have left their mark on the history of American jazz. The quintet will immerse you in their universe and their struggle for freedom over a period of 100 years (1923-2023), narrating small unusual stories!

The event takes place at the Les Funambules theater, 5 rue du Docteur Lyons (access from Avenue du 3 septembre).
