The “Girolamo Rossi” Museum, on the occasion of the International Museum Day organized by MIBACT and promoted by ICOM, is also participating this year in the “European Night of Museums,” an event born in France in 2005 and now involving more than 40 countries, with the patronage of UNESCO and the Council of Europe.
On the night between May 18th and 19th, 2024, museums across Europe will be presented in an unusual and enticing evening setting, enriching the offerings with exhibitions, guided tours, educational activities for both adults and children, tastings, readings, and concerts.
The MAR, also included on this occasion in the list of national and European facilities participating in the initiative, organizes an extraordinary evening opening on Saturday, May 18th, from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with two guided tours at 9:15 PM and 10:15 PM titled: “In search of secrets in the dungeons of the Forte dell’Annunziata, home of the MAR in Ventimiglia.”
During the evening, visitors will be welcomed into the Museum’s halls and guided to visit the underground floor, the one that has been kept most intact and close to the original project curated by the Savoy Military Engineering Corps in the early nineteenth century.
For this occasion, admission will be purely symbolic, reduced to 1 euro.
