On the occasion of the Formula 1 Grand Prix, facing exceptional attendance on its waters, the Maritime Affairs Directorate (DAM) carries out preventive actions in terms of navigation safety and protection of the marine environment. A flyer produced by the DAM is distributed every year, prior to two major events in the Principality: the Grand Prix in May and the Monaco Yacht Show in September. The document is handed out to both local boaters and pleasure boats anchored in Monaco’s waters, whom the DAM aims to raise awareness of Monaco’s maritime regulations. It is also disseminated electronically with the help of the Monaco Ports Operating Company and the Maritime and Airport Police Division. Beyond this awareness aspect, the DAM is also present on the water throughout the duration of the Grand Prix to enforce speed limits, regulate traffic in the two ports, check the permissions of water taxis, and ensure compliance with navigation and anchoring restrictions.
