Ms Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Acting Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, is visiting Japan on the occasion of Monaco Day, which will be celebrated on June 28 at the Osaka Kansai 2025 World Expo.
During the first part of her trip, she travelled to Tokyo, where she was received by Mr Hisayuki Fujii, State Minister for Foreign Affairs. Their discussions focused on international issues, relations between Japan and Monaco, and the Principality’s participation in the Osaka World Expo. Both Ministers welcomed the friendly ties between the two countries, built on shared values. Ms Berro-Amadeï also mentioned the ongoing discussions regarding a double taxation agreement.
The Minister then met with Mr Akihiko Tanaka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). After presenting Monaco’s international development cooperation policy, she discussed potential partnerships between Monaco and Japan in key areas such as health, education, and child protection.
Finally, Ms Berro-Amadeï had an exchange with Mr Yohei Sasakawa, Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, a philanthropic organisation active in fields such as health, education, environmental protection and economic development. Like Monaco, the foundation works to support the most vulnerable populations, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
