Today, Monday, February 17, 2025, in Villefranche-sur-Mer, the local fishing boats, known as “Pointus,” will be adorned with colorful flowers, including mimosa and carnations, and will parade before thousands of spectators. The fishermen, wearing traditional Provençal attire, will engage in a spectacular floral naval battle, creating a unique and fascinating event.

The numbers for this edition are impressive:

  • 60,000 carnations
  • 1.2 tons of mimosa
  • Over 20 Pointus boats
  • More than 4,500 expected visitors

The 121st edition of the Combat Naval Fleuri will feature various entertainment activities, including folk music groups and a musical performance. Admission and all activities are free, allowing everyone to enjoy this extraordinary celebration.

Combat Naval Fleuri Program

  • Monday, February 17, 2025
    • Villefranche-sur-Mer and the “Pointus” of the Mediterranean will gather for the traditional flower battle on the water.
    • Over 20 fishing boats, decorated with thousands of carnations and mimosa, will parade in Port de la Santé.

Schedule:

  • 11:00 AM: Parade of carnival groups at the Octroi.
  • 1:30 PM: Carnival procession along the docks.
  • 2:00 PM: Start of the FLORAL NAVAL COMBAT at Port de la Santé, followed by carnival group performances.
  • All day: Floral walk around the city and a quiz with a romantic dinner prize.

The Combat Naval Fleuri, dating back to 1902, is a tradition passed down from generation to generation and represents a key element of a shared culture.
