On Sunday, March 16, 2025, the flat grass track of the Cagnes-sur-Mer racecourse will host an exciting harness racing event. This meeting is scheduled just one week after the prestigious Grand Critérium de Vitesse de la Côte d’Azur, which will mark the end of the 2024-2025 winter trotting season on the Mediterranean coast.

This event comes as an alternative solution following the cancellation of the meeting initially planned for the same date at the Avignon racecourse. Christian Atanian, President of the South-East Federation, explains the reasons: “I visited the site just over a week ago, and unfortunately, no maintenance has been carried out since last summer. The racing society had to terminate the lease agreement with the landowners, preventing volunteers from accessing the racecourse. Additionally, the track has suffered significant damage caused by wild boars, making it unusable.”

Faced with this situation, an alternative venue was needed, maintaining the required technical characteristics—namely, a left-handed grass track, like Avignon. The choice fell on the Cagnes-sur-Mer racecourse, which perfectly meets these criteria. President Forcioli-Conti quickly gave his approval to host the event on March 16.

Cagnes-sur-Mer once again proves to be a key venue for harness racing, offering fans an unmissable day featuring six grass-track races. To make the event even more special, admission to the racecourse will be completely free, providing everyone with the opportunity to experience the thrill of harness racing.
