Sanremo Festival 2024: Everything You Need to Know

The 74th edition of the Sanremo Festival is just over a week away.

The city of Sanremo has been buzzing for days in anticipation of the preparations for the numerous events that will take place next week. A program filled with interviews, shows, and music, the main focus of the Festival.

You can follow the Festival on TV, on Rai1, and streaming on RaiPlay, starting at 8:40 PM. For the fifth consecutive edition, Amadeus will be the artistic director and host. The episode is expected to end no earlier than 1:30 AM. The introduction to PrimaFestival will not be missed, with the broadcast starting on Sunday, February 4, at 8:30 PM, right after Tg1. Paola & Chiara will be the hosts, accompanied by TikTokers Mattia Stanga and Daniele Cabras as correspondents.

There will be 30 artists competing

in the 74th Sanremo Festival, among men and women, including three emerging artists from Sanremo Giovani. The first evening, scheduled for Tuesday, February 6, will feature all the performances. In the following evenings, the contestants will be divided into two groups of 15 artists each. They will reunite on Friday for the evening dedicated to covers and duets, and finally, they will all come together for the final on Saturday, February 10.

The last three come from Sanremo Giovani.

Voting methods

The 74th Sanremo Festival will involve the participation of three juries to determine the rankings. This year, in addition to the televote and the press, TV, and web jury, a jury composed of radio stations will be added, while the demoscopic jury, often a subject of discussion, will not be present.

On the first evening, all 30 participants will perform, and the press will vote. The top 10 songs in the ranking will be announced to the public.

In the following evenings, divided into two groups of 15 participants each, televoting and radio voting will be opened. Amadeus will announce the top 5 of each evening.

On Thursday, during the cover evening, the top 10 positions will be decided by the votes of the 3 juries.

In the final, the ranking will be determined by televoting, and all 30 positions will be revealed. The top five, a novelty introduced in the last edition, will compete for victory after the vote is reset. The final decision on the victory of the Festival will once again be determined by the combination of votes from the three juries.

Every evening, Amadeus will be accompanied on the Ariston stage by a guest who will assist in hosting:

Duets and covers

The evening of Friday, February 9, will be dedicated to duets and covers. The competing artists can draw from the Italian and international repertoire of songs published in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
