Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, President of the Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA) of Monaco, officially inaugurated the new shelter of the Association on Monday, September 16, 2024, located in the commune of Peille. The ceremony took place in the presence of Monegasque and French authorities, members of the Board of Directors and staff of the Monaco SPA, project partners, and the Mayor of Peille, Cyril Piazza.
This event marks a key milestone in the Principality’s commitment to abandoned and mistreated animals, two years after the laying of the foundation stone on September 12, 2022, by Their Serene Highnesses the Sovereign Prince and Princess Charlene.
Built in just 24 months in a natural area at an altitude of 700 meters, this shelter is a true haven of peace for animals in distress. It will be able to accommodate up to 40 dogs, including 6 in quarantine, and about 50 cats, including 7 in quarantine. Additionally, new pets as well as birds can also be temporarily taken care of.
