From March 5 to 8, 2026, the Principality of Monaco will host the 42nd edition of the Primo Cup – Trophée UBS, one of the most anticipated one-design sailing competitions in the Mediterranean. The event will bring together more than 350 sailors from nine countries, ready to compete in Monaco’s waters during four days of high-level racing.

The event is organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco in partnership with UBS, with the support of the Mairie de Monaco and the technical partnership of North Sails.

Created in 1985 at the initiative of Albert II of Monaco, the Primo Cup has grown into a key event on the international sailing calendar.

“We welcome crews from all over the world who come to test themselves in demanding racing conditions. Monaco offers a highly technical environment and a sporting intensity that pushes every team to perform at its best,” said Bernard d’Alessandri, Director and Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco.

For three days, the J/70, Smeralda 888, Longtze Premier and Cape 31 fleets will compete in a series of intense races.

For the J/70 class, the Primo Cup also represents the final stage of the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series, with the overall title still to be decided. Currently leading the standings is Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio with the team G-Spot, followed by Pierrik Devic (Fraser Yachts) and Nico Poons (Charisma V), in a particularly tight contest.

Adding further prestige to this edition is the presence of Dawn Riley, a pioneering figure in international sailing and the first woman to lead a team in the America’s Cup, with three participations in the legendary competition and two in the Whitbread Round the World Race.

Featured fleets

  • Cape 31: powerful and spectacular boats, known for their impressive acceleration, especially downwind.

  • Longtze Premier: responsive and fast boats capable of delivering exciting racing even in moderate winds.

  • Smeralda 888: the fleet of “gentlemen sailors”, chaired by Charles de Bourbon des Deux-Siciles, opening the season with an increasingly competitive level.

The Primo Cup – Trophée UBS once again confirms the Principality of Monaco’s ability to attract top international one-design fleets, offering a sporting stage where performance at sea remains the only true measure.
