Menton Reopens Handiplage at Les Sablettes: Accessible Beach Service for People with Disabilities from July 1

The City of Menton announces the reopening of the Handiplage service at Les Sablettes beach, operating from July 1 to August 31, 2026, reaffirming its commitment to accessibility and inclusion. The official launch will take place on Wednesday, July 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Les Sablettes beach, with a welcoming event open to participants.

Certified as a Level 3 Handiplage site, the service is designed to facilitate access to the sea for people with disabilities, individuals with reduced mobility, or those experiencing a loss of autonomy, ensuring safe and comfortable swimming conditions.

A Fully Accessible and Equipped Beach Area

Les Sablettes beach is equipped to provide comprehensive support and accessibility. Users benefit from dedicated services designed to make access to the sea easier and safer.

Facilities include:

• trained staff providing assistance for swimming access;
• specialized equipment for entering the water;
• accessible changing rooms, showers and restrooms;
• shaded relaxation areas;
• adapted access points along the seafront promenade.

This initiative represents a strong example of inclusive tourism on the French Riviera, improving beach accessibility for all.

A Friendly Opening Ceremony

The season launch will include a convivial gathering following the presentation of the service. Participants will enjoy lemonade prepared by young people from Bariquand Alphand, as well as lemon cookies from Menton made by workers from the ESAT, highlighting social inclusion and local engagement.
