January opens under the sign of culture and reflection at the Théâtre Princesse Grace in Monaco, offering a rich programme of theatre, cinema and philosophical encounters. Among the most anticipated events is Il ne m’est jamais rien arrivé, on Tuesday 20 January at 8:00 pm, an intense and moving performance inspired by the Journal of Jean-Luc Lagarce, one of the most important playwrights of the twentieth century.
Giving voice and presence to Lagarce’s intimate writings is Vincent Dedienne, directed by Johanny Bert. Through the playwright’s notebooks, the audience discovers a deeply personal portrait of a young man who is both humorous and unsettling. The story unfolds between Paris and Besançon in the 1980s, portraying a solitary and emotional life devoted entirely to theatre. It is also a journey through a pivotal era marked by the emergence of AIDS and the deaths of iconic figures such as Coluche and Simone Signoret. A life both great and small, lucidly and poetically told in a performance lasting approximately one hour, without an interval.
The January programme at the Théâtre Princesse Grace also includes several other highlights:
Personne n’est ensemble sauf moi by Clea Petrolesi on Tuesday 13 January
Les Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco, dedicated to “Redemption”, on Thursday 15 January
The screening of Occupe-toi d’Amélie by Claude Autant-Lara, in partnership with the Institut Audiovisuel de Monaco, on Wednesday 28 January
La folle journée ou Le mariage de Figaro by Beaumarchais, directed by Léna Breban, on Friday 30 January
