The sea as a space of freedom, inclusion, and sharing. This is the spirit of Handi Voile 06, the project promoted by the Alpes-Maritimes Department which celebrates its 20th edition in 2026, confirming itself as one of the most important initiatives dedicated to accessible sports on the French Riviera.
From June 5 to 27, 2026, the tour will offer 12 free days of sailing and kayaking activities for people with disabilities and their companions, with the goal of breaking down barriers and transforming the sea into a place truly open to everyone.
Registrations are already open, and the initiative will involve 11 municipalities across the region, from Menton to Cannes, passing through Nice, Antibes, and many iconic locations along the Alpes-Maritimes coastline.
Created in 2007, Handi Voile 06 has become a major reference point for inclusive sports in southern France. In nearly twenty years of activity, the project has enabled around 11,000 people with disabilities, together with their families, to enjoy sailing and kayaking free of charge in a safe, fully equipped, and accessible environment.
The initiative is part of the broader Handi Sport 06 program, promoted by the Alpes-Maritimes Department to encourage adapted sports and combat social isolation.
According to Department President Charles Ange Ginésy, this twentieth edition is concrete proof of the institutional commitment to increasingly inclusive sports, capable of improving the well-being and quality of life of people with disabilities.
The 2026 edition will be held in 11 municipalities of the Alpes-Maritimes, with 12 activity days spread throughout June.
The locations involved are:
The collaboration between the Departmental Sailing Committee, local nautical bases, SPCOC canoe-kayak, and local municipalities allows for well-organized activities and services adapted to every need.
One of the most important aspects of Handi Voile 06 is that all activities are completely free of charge.
The tour is open to people with any type of disability, without distinction, as well as their companions. Activities take place at handiplages and equipped nautical centers, where participants can experience sailing and kayaking under the supervision of qualified instructors and specialized staff.
The goal is not only sporting but also relational and therapeutic: experiencing the sea becomes a journey of autonomy, confidence, and social inclusion.
Each day includes four one-hour sessions:
The total capacity is approximately 100 participants per day, allowing for broad and well-organized participation.
Families may register up to four people per booking.
Reservations are mandatory and have been open since April 20, 2026.
It is possible to register directly online through the official Alpes-Maritimes Department website or complete the registration form on-site, depending on remaining availability.

Handi Voile 06 is not limited to the summer tour in June.
Throughout the year, the program involves around 50 specialized facilities and offers free sailing sessions in seven partner nautical bases across the region.
Thanks to this permanent system, around 600 people each year benefit from adapted sports programs that support rehabilitation, physical and mental well-being, and social inclusion.
It is a virtuous model that demonstrates how sport can become a concrete tool for participation and equal opportunities.
At a time when accessibility is becoming increasingly central, Handi Voile 06 represents a concrete example of real and lasting inclusion.
It is not only about offering free activities, but about creating an experience that restores autonomy, confidence, and social connection to thousands of people.
For twenty years, the project has shown that the sea can truly belong to everyone.
And it is precisely this vision that makes Handi Voile 06 one of the most meaningful social and sporting initiatives on the entire French Riviera.
