Sanctuary – Costa Rica’s Tribute to the Ocean

• Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 3:00 PM – Opéra, Vieux Nice, Rue Saint François de Paule 4
  A unique performance at the Opéra de Nice presented by Costa Rica, the guest of honor at the Carnival. Sanctuaire invites the international community to join in defending the oceans, with a focus on Cocos Island, a symbol of biodiversity and natural heritage.
  Created by the Costa Rican Ministry of Culture and Youth, Sanctuaire blends dance, circus, and music to showcase the beauty and fragility of marine ecosystems. The performance expresses the fluidity of ocean currents through dance, tackles the challenges of pollution with circus acts, and uses music to evoke the underwater life that underscores the urgency of protecting these environments.
  The Costa Rica delegation uses art to raise awareness about the ocean’s importance as a vital ecosystem for our existence, as well as celebrating the crucial role of fishermen as guardians of the sea.

Night at the Carnival Village

• Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM – Village du Carnaval, Square Leclerc, Promenade du Paillon
  Enjoy a festive evening with a sardine barbecue, socca, live music, and an “unusual” program featuring Sir Ali, a renowned producer and journalist. Dive into a lively and immersive evening centered around jazz music.
