AMPN Exhibition at Le Méridien Beach Plaza Monaco: 50 Years of Marine Conservation in a Photographic Journey

Le Méridien Beach Plaza Monaco is marking the 50th anniversary of the Association Monégasque pour la Protection de la Nature (AMPN) with a photography exhibition that retraces five decades of commitment to protecting the marine environment. Open to the public free of charge until October 15, 2026, the exhibition showcases the association’s most significant milestones since its founding in 1976 at the initiative of Prince Rainier III.

Through a carefully curated selection of photographs, documents, and historical testimonies, visitors can explore the key achievements that have contributed to preserving the biodiversity of the Mediterranean Sea and strengthening Monaco’s environmental legacy.

A Journey Through Research, Conservation, and Innovation

The exhibition is divided into thematic sections illustrating AMPN’s core missions: protecting natural habitats, restoring marine ecosystems, advancing scientific research, promoting technological innovation, and raising environmental awareness.

A major focus is placed on the creation and development of the Larvotto and Spélugues Marine Protected Areas, now recognized as leading examples of marine conservation in the Mediterranean. The exhibition also highlights ecological restoration projects and pioneering initiatives, including the world’s first 3D-printed artificial reefs designed to support marine biodiversity.

Visitors will also discover AMPN’s educational programs aimed at inspiring younger generations to understand and protect the fragile ecosystems of the Mediterranean.

Le Méridien Beach Plaza and Its Close Connection to the Larvotto Marine Reserve

Le Méridien Beach Plaza was a natural choice to host the exhibition. It is the only hotel in Monaco with a private beach directly bordering the Larvotto Marine Reserve, a unique setting that has fostered a long-standing partnership with AMPN.

Over the years, the collaboration has included underwater clean-up operations, educational workshops for children, and environmental awareness initiatives involving hotel guests. The exhibition therefore reflects a shared commitment to protecting the sea and promoting sustainable tourism.

As visitors move through the exhibition, they encounter stunning images of Mediterranean marine life—from Posidonia seagrass meadows to groupers and moray eels—offering a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving these precious ecosystems for future generations.

The exhibition “50 Years of Commitment to Biodiversity” is open until October 15, 2026, at the Méridien Hub, Le Méridien Beach Plaza, located at 22 Avenue Princesse Grace, Monaco.
