A toy that is no longer used can bring happiness to another child. This is the idea behind “La Grande Collecte Solidaire des Jouets”, a charity campaign taking place from 1 to 30 November across six towns on the French Riviera.

The initiative involves Menton, Beausoleil, Castellar, Gorbio, Sainte-Agnès and La Brigue. The French Riviera Community is encouraging residents and families to take part by donating toys that are still in good condition.

The collected toys will be redistributed by the Soleil Royal 06 association, helping provide children with new opportunities to play while supporting families and promoting reuse and waste reduction.

Which toys can be donated?

The campaign accepts various types of toys, provided they are complete, functional and in good condition, ready to be enjoyed by another child.

Accepted items include:

  • Soft toys and teddy bears;
  • Dolls;
  • Board games;
  • Video games;
  • Toy cars and small vehicles;
  • Musical toy instruments;
  • Scooters;
  • Other toys that are still suitable for use.

The initiative is an opportunity to make space at home while turning unused items into a meaningful act of solidarity.

Where to donate toys: all collection points

Several collection points have been set up in public offices and facilities throughout the French Riviera Community area to make donations easier.

Schools in Castellar, Sainte-Agnès and La Brigue also taking part

The campaign also involves three local schools, which will host dedicated collection points. In these locations, donations are exclusively open to pupils and school staff.

The participating schools are:

  • Castellar: Paul Lascaris School, 52 avenue des Granges Saint-Paul;
  • Sainte-Agnès: Charles Imbert School, 220 avenue Saint-Michel;
  • La Brigue: Maguy et Marcel Magagnosc School, rue de l’Authion.

The involvement of schools also helps raise awareness among younger generations about sharing, reuse and caring for others.

Solidarity and reuse: a small gesture that can make a difference

The “La Grande Collecte Solidaire des Jouets” campaign will run until 30 November, giving residents of the six participating towns the opportunity to support a charitable initiative dedicated to children.

Donating a toy means not only helping another family but also encouraging more sustainable consumption by giving objects a second life and reducing waste.

A simple gesture can turn a toy that is no longer needed into a precious gift for another child.
