Vendanges Libres 2026 in Grasse: the wine festival returns to the historic centre

Wine is returning to centre stage in Grasse. On Saturday, September 26, 2026, the city’s historic centre will host a new edition of Vendanges Libres, a celebration dedicated to wine, harvest traditions and the convivial spirit of the grape harvest season.

For the occasion, the streets and squares of central Grasse will become a lively route combining wine tastings, French gastronomy, crafts and entertainment, bringing the atmosphere of traditional harvest festivals back to the city.

The programme will combine wine discovery with performances, cultural events and activities for visitors, including one of the most symbolic traditions of the grape harvest: the traditional grape treading, offering a glimpse into an age-old agricultural ritual.

Wine and local products in the heart of Grasse

Throughout the day, the historic centre will host stands dedicated to wine sales and tastings, alongside French gastronomic specialities and craft products.

The event offers visitors the opportunity to discover wine through a broader celebration of local culture, bringing together food, craftsmanship and traditions associated with the grape harvest.

The tasting format is designed to allow visitors to explore a range of wines throughout the day. A €6 tasting glass includes seven tasting vouchers, which can be used at participating stands.

The tradition of grape treading returns

One of the highlights of Vendanges Libres will be the return of traditional grape treading.

This iconic gesture, deeply associated with historic harvest celebrations, becomes part of a contemporary event designed to reconnect the city with its agricultural heritage and traditions.

Vendanges Libres therefore offers both residents and visitors an opportunity to experience a festive tradition while discovering another side of Grasse’s cultural identity.

Tombola, prizes and a photobooth at Place aux Aires

The programme will also include a large tombola at Place aux Aires, with the draw scheduled for 5 p.m.

Among the prizes is a magnum of Château Calon-Ségur Saint-Estèphe 2023, as well as two tickets to the concert “The Beatles Factory – A Day in the Life.”

A photobooth will also be available at the square, giving visitors the chance to take photographs and enter an additional prize draw.

Theatre, magic and wine culture at Place Morel

Vendanges Libres will go well beyond wine tastings, with a programme that also includes cultural and performing arts events.

At 2 p.m., at Place Morel, the du Quadrant theatre company will present Le cyclope et les comtesses, un flacon pour deux ivresses, a performance combining storytelling, theatre and magic.

At 3 p.m., also at Place Morel, De la vigne au verre will introduce visitors to the world of oenology and the knowledge associated with vines and wine production.

It will be an opportunity to discover the journey from grape to glass and explore some of the traditions and expertise surrounding wine.

Music, dance and local memories with “Mille Voix, Une Ville”

The celebration will continue with music. At 6 p.m., on the forecourt of the Médiathèque Charles Nègre, Lamine Diagne and the Collectif Kay will present Mille Voix, Une Ville.

The multidisciplinary performance combines live music, improvisation, spoken word, dance, rap, slam and graffiti, creating a unique artistic portrait of the city.

The project brings together 16 artists and was developed through encounters with Grasse residents, incorporating their stories, memories and experiences. The performance is free of charge and will also mark the opening of the new season at the Théâtre de Grasse.

A day of wine, gastronomy and conviviality

The Vendanges Libres festival in Grasse is therefore much more than a wine celebration. Tastings and gastronomic products will share the historic centre with performances, music, crafts and activities, creating a festive route through the city.
