The Fondation Princesse Charlène de Monaco announces the return of one of the most spectacular charity endurance events in the Mediterranean: The Crossing Viareggio–Monaco 2026, scheduled for 19–20 June 2026.
This unique sporting challenge combines endurance, solidarity and environmental awareness through a 225-kilometre water bike relay across the Mediterranean Sea.
The Crossing Viareggio–Monaco is a charity relay race connecting the Italian coast of Viareggio with the Principality of Monaco. The event brings together up to 10 international teams, each composed of four athletes who take turns throughout the journey.
The challenge lasts approximately 24 continuous hours, making it one of the most demanding endurance water sports events in Europe.
The course covers around 225 kilometres, crossing the Pelagos Sanctuary, a protected marine area in the Mediterranean dedicated to the conservation of marine mammals such as dolphins and whales.
This setting turns the event into both a sporting challenge and a strong environmental message.
The event is organized by the Fondation Princesse Charlène de Monaco, which is committed to:
