The ceremony of flag presentation, blessing, and insignia awarding for the Carabinieri trainees of the “Jules Rigoard” class took place at the helicopter landing area of the Moneghetti Barracks in the Principality of Monaco. A solemn military event dedicated to tradition, service, and duty.

The ceremony was presided over by H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie, godmother of the Corps des Carabiniers du Prince, in the presence of military authorities and the families of the new recruits.

The event was attended by Colonel Tony Varo, Lieutenant Colonel Maxime Yvrard, and senior representatives of the Public Force.

Following the formal welcome by Lieutenant Colonel Martial Pied, the troops were reviewed in a highly symbolic institutional moment.


Insignia awarding and religious blessing

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the company flag and the awarding of insignia by Princess Stéphanie.

The insignia were blessed by Father Christian Venard, chaplain of the Public Force, emphasizing the spiritual dimension of the event.

The recruits swore their oath on May 4, 2026, to the Sovereign Prince and the Princely Family, committing to serve Monaco according to the values of:

Closing ceremony with the Monegasque anthem

The ceremony concluded with the performance of the Monegasque national anthem by the Prince’s Carabinieri Orchestra and all military personnel.


Remembering Jules Rigoard

The class is named after Jules Rigoard, a member of the Carabinieri Corps who served during World War I and is remembered for his sacrifice as “Mort pour la France”.

The ceremony highlights the enduring role of the Corps des Carabiniers du Prince in Monaco’s military tradition and its commitment to passing on institutional values to new generations.
