Monaco E-Prix 2026: road closures, traffic changes and free buses during the Formula E weekend

Monaco will host the double Monaco E-Prix event on May 16 and 17, 2026: here are all the traffic restrictions, parking regulations and public transport changes planned for the Formula E weekend

The Monaco E-Prix 2026 returns to the Principality with two race days scheduled for Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17, 2026. To allow the 10th and 11th editions of the electric racing event to take place, the Government of the Monaco has announced a major mobility and traffic management plan affecting several areas of the city.

The measures include road closures, restricted pedestrian access, parking bans, traffic diversions and reinforced public transport services throughout the Formula E weekend.

Road closures during Monaco E-Prix 2026

From 5 a.m. on race days, both vehicles and pedestrians will no longer be allowed to circulate on the roads surrounding the Monaco E-Prix circuit.

Among the main affected roads are:

  • Quai des États-Unis
  • Route de la Piscine
  • Boulevard Albert Ier
  • Avenue d’Ostende
  • Place du Casino
  • Avenue des Spélugues
  • Avenue Princesse Grace
  • Boulevard Louis II
  • Avenue J.-F. Kennedy

Additional roads closed to vehicle traffic will include:

  • Quai Albert Ier
  • Quai Antoine Ier
  • Rue Grimaldi
  • Avenue de la Quarantaine
  • Tunnel Rocher Albert Ier
  • Tunnel Rocher Noghès

Several pedestrian access points and central districts of Monaco will also face restrictions during the event.

Access for residents and ticket holders

The restrictions will not apply to spectators holding official Monaco E-Prix tickets or passes issued by the Automobile Club de Monaco.

Residents living near the circuit will still be allowed access to their homes upon presentation of identification documents, while employees working in restricted areas must show their work permits.

Temporary traffic changes and one-way reversals

To improve mobility during the event, Monaco authorities will temporarily modify traffic circulation across several streets.

The planned changes include:

  • reversed one-way traffic on Rue Princesse Florestine;
  • traffic changes on Rue Suffren Reymond;
  • temporary reversals on Rue Saige and Rue Terrazzani;
  • temporary two-way traffic on Rue Grimaldi between Rue Suffren Reymond and Place d’Armes.

Several roads and tunnels will also close from Friday, May 15, including:

  • Tunnel Sainte-Dévote;
  • Tunnel Débarcadère;
  • Avenue des Papalins;
  • Bretelle Auréglia.

Parking restrictions across Monaco

The Monaco E-Prix mobility plan also includes extensive parking bans throughout the Principality.

Restrictions will begin as early as Wednesday, May 13 in some areas, while zones near the circuit will gradually close to parking between May 15 and May 17.

Affected roads include:

  • Avenue de Monte-Carlo;
  • Avenue Princesse Grace;
  • Rue Grimaldi;
  • Avenue du Port;
  • Avenue Albert II;
  • Avenue des Ligures;
  • Avenue de Fontvieille.

Several parking areas dedicated to motorcycles and scooters will also be temporarily unavailable.

Monaco ON charging stations temporarily unavailable

Several electric charging stations operated by Monaco ON will be temporarily deactivated during the event.

The affected charging points are located on Avenue des Ligures, Avenue de la Madone, Rue Grimaldi, Rue Louis Notari, Avenue de la Quarantaine and Quai des États-Unis.

Depending on the area, the service suspension will run between May 9 and May 17.

Free buses across Monaco during the Formula E weekend

To encourage the use of public transport, the Principality has confirmed free access to the entire Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco bus network during the event weekend.

On Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17, all buses will be free across the entire Monaco network, not only on the routes serving the Monaco E-Prix circuit.

Bus routes will be temporarily diverted but also reinforced to accommodate the increased number of visitors.
