As part of its March programme, the Théâtre Princesse Grace presents La Tour de Constance, a new creation written and directed by Guillaume Vincent, to be performed on Tuesday, March 31 at 8:00 pm.
Set in Aigues-Mortes, in the Petite Camargue region, the story unfolds in the shadow of the Tour de Constance, once a prison for Protestants after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. Rather than offering a traditional historical narrative, the play shifts to the present day, behind the scenes of a fictional luxury hotel, the Hôtel de la Tour.
Six characters gravitate around this refined setting. Whether they work in the hotel or nearby, they share the same hopes and frustrations: dreams of promotion, longings for elsewhere, love stories both fragile and intense, and the relentless demands of a high-end clientele. Through their intertwined destinies, the play paints a sensitive and deeply contemporary human portrait.
Following these characters over the course of an entire year, La Tour de Constance unfolds through the changing seasons — spring, summer, autumn and winter — using time itself as a metaphor for transformation, disillusionment and renewal.
Performed by six young actors from the 11th graduating class of the Drama School of the Théâtre National de Bretagne — Bonnie Barbier, Julie Borgel, Alison Dechamps, Félicien Fonsino, Dylan Maréchal and Maxime Crescini — the production features precise writing and a restrained staging that give full space to both individual voices and collective experience. The performance lasts approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, without an intermission.
This production is part of a particularly vibrant March programme at the Théâtre Princesse Grace, combining contemporary theatre, stand-up comedy, philosophical encounters and major successes from the French stage.
