The 2026 season of the Handiplage site at Larvotto Beach in Monaco was officially inaugurated on Thursday, 2 July 2026. The initiative is promoted by the Principality’s Government as part of its ongoing policies supporting inclusion and assistance for people with disabilities.
Active for more than twenty years thanks to the initiative of the Soroptimist Club and now coordinated by the Directorate of Social Welfare and Assistance, the Handiplage service ensures safe, comfortable, and autonomous access to the sea for both assisted and independent users with disabilities.
The Handiplage site at Larvotto is a key reference point for beach accessibility in Monaco. The aim of the service is to allow everyone to enjoy swimming and seaside activities thanks to adapted infrastructure and the presence of trained staff.
For the 2026 summer season, the service operates from 29 June to 30 August, with a dedicated team of six trained handiplage staff members assisting users throughout their visit.
The site is equipped with facilities designed to improve accessibility and comfort for users with reduced mobility. These include:
These tools ensure safe and easy access to the sea, promoting full participation in beach activities.
The site is open daily with the following schedule:
The timetable is designed to meet the needs of users during the summer season while ensuring flexible access throughout the day.
To further improve accessibility, a dedicated benefit is available for users: a free 3-hour parking voucher, provided upon request. This measure helps facilitate access to the site and improves the overall user experience.
The inauguration of the 2026 season confirms the Principality of Monaco’s ongoing commitment to strengthening accessibility and inclusion policies. The Handiplage Larvotto initiative represents a concrete example of a public service designed to improve quality of life for people with disabilities, offering a safe, adapted, and welcoming beach environment.
The project is part of a broader strategy aimed at making Monaco increasingly accessible and inclusive, reinforcing services dedicated to reduced mobility and personal autonomy, including in leisure and tourism environments.
