In summer 2026, the Grimaldi Forum will host one of the most ambitious exhibitions ever dedicated to the relationship between Monaco and the world of automobiles. Entitled “Monaco and the Automobile, from 1893 to the Present Day”, the retrospective will run from 1 July to 6 September and will offer an immersive journey through 130 years of innovation, racing and automotive culture. Ticket presales will open on 1 December.
Spread over more than 4,000 m², the exhibition will showcase over fifty rare and emblematic vehicles: from the pioneers of early elegance competitions to the legendary machines of the Rallye Monte-Carlo, all the way to modern Formula 1 cars. Among the highlights is an exceptional Bugatti 35B, which competed in the 1929 Monaco Grand Prix, on loan from the Nationales Automuseum.
Curated by Rodolphe Rapetti, General Heritage Conservator, the exhibition benefits from the support of the Automobile Club de Monaco, a cornerstone of the Principality’s motor sport tradition for more than a century. The event will also present never-before-seen archival material, offering a unique window into the origins and evolution of Monaco’s automotive history.
A special section will explore the historic bond between the Princely Family and the automobile, a passion handed down through generations that has shaped the country’s infrastructure and contributed to the birth of major international sporting events, first among them the iconic Monaco Grand Prix, inaugurated in 1929.
