Starting July 28, 2025, the public transport service in the Principality of Monaco enters a new phase of optimization with updates to the express lines X1, X2, and X3, which were initially introduced on a trial basis in April 2024.
The Government of Monaco, through a press release, announced significant changes aimed at making the city more fluid, accessible, and sustainable. Here are the key updates:
Lines X1 and X2 have been extended: X1 now reaches the “Rocher” stop, and X2 extends to the “Portier” stop. These extensions will especially facilitate access from the Salines parking lot to two strategic hubs in the Principality. Additionally, frequencies will be increased, with buses every 14 minutes instead of every 20 minutes.
Line X4 is discontinued due to low ridership. Users are encouraged to use line X3, which covers most of the same route except for the “Saint-Roman” stop.
The express lines will now serve the following stops:
X1: “Jardin Exotique,” “Belgique,” “Place d’Armes,” and now “Rocher”
X2: “Jardin Exotique,” “Pont Sainte-Dévote,” “Monte-Carlo Tourisme,” and now “Portier”
X3: “Albert II,” “Port de Fontvieille” or “Fontvieille – shopping center” (depending on direction), “Place d’Armes” (depending on direction), “Princesse Antoinette” or “Place Sainte-Dévote” (depending on direction), “Portier,” and “Larvotto”
These changes will be accompanied by a new information map that allows users to view routes and connections between the different lines. However, as the service is still experimental (for example, request stops are also being tested), the Government of Monaco invites citizens to send feedback and suggestions to the Compagnie des Autobus de Monaco via email at contact@cam.mc, confirming its commitment to listening and continuously improving public transport services.
