The Gerontological Coordination Centre of Monaco (CCGM) recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, Mr. Christophe Robino, Government Counsellor–Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Mr. Philippe Migliasso, Senior Health Executive, Dr. Pascale Gelormini, as well as many Monegasque dignitaries.

A visit of the premises was followed by a speech from Mr. Robino, who emphasized the strategic importance of the CCGM for the Principality:
“Without this center, keeping elderly people at home would be extremely complicated. The CCGM operates at all levels thanks to its expertise in assessing individual situations in order to implement all the necessary actions to support home care.”

Entirely dedicated to aging support and the management of loss of autonomy, the CCGM is built around a multidisciplinary team specializing in gerontology.
Its mission is to offer concrete actions in the service of the elderly:
– Personalized information and advice
– A directory of caregivers and available services
– Support groups
– Development of individualized assistance plans
– Coordination of a health network
– Training of professionals
– Awareness campaigns on major public health topics

Mr. Philippe Migliasso, who heads the center, also spoke:
“We’ve seen changes over these past 20 years. It’s a bit like a sociological observation of how mentalities have evolved. Today, people want to be active participants in their care plan, to stay at home as long as possible, and to make their own life choices. The CCGM respects the individual’s pace. The CCGM supports 800 beneficiaries every year.”

The center’s geriatric physician, Dr. Pascale Gelormini, used her speech to acknowledge the commitment and essential role of caregivers:
“This need became clear to us in the field, through direct contact with the realities experienced by elderly people and their families. The Center was born from a simple conviction: fragility deserves dignified, ethical, competent, and deeply human support. […] And also from the key role of an often invisible but essential player: the family caregiver. The CCGM also exists to acknowledge their role, support them, and accompany them.”

To mark the celebration, Monegasque artist Mr. One Teas unveiled a unique artwork that will soon be displayed at the entrance of the CCGM. This painting, rich in humanity and symbolism, pays tribute to the values of respect, solidarity, and support that are dear to the center. It is also noteworthy for bearing the artistic signature of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, who contributed to its creation—providing a personal and heartfelt endorsement of the initiative. A powerful way to commemorate the 20th anniversary of a vital institution serving Monaco’s elderly.
