The Opéra de Monte-Carlo unveils its 2025/2026 programme — the fourth season under the artistic direction of Cecilia Bartoli, who continues to leave a lasting mark on the European opera scene. Blending great classics, heartfelt tributes, and exciting premieres, the new season promises elegance, intensity, and surprises.
Among the most anticipated productions are Mozart’s “Così fan tutte”, Verdi’s “Aida” and “Il Trovatore”, along with Debussy’s ethereal “Pelléas et Mélisande”. Wagner’s monumental works will also feature prominently, with “Die Walküre” and “The Flying Dutchman” taking the stage.
Cecilia Bartoli herself will take on one of the most poetic moments of the season, performing in Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice”, in a production that promises lyrical beauty and artistic finesse.
A highlight of the season will be a tribute to Joséphine Baker, an icon of artistic freedom and a historical figure deeply connected to the Principality. On the 50th anniversary of her passing, the Opéra will honour her with a dedicated performance celebrating her life and legacy.
The season will also showcase world-renowned voices, including Roberto Alagna, Plácido Domingo, and Elīna Garanča, performing in a series of unmissable concerts and operatic events.
For the first time ever at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, the legendary musical “CATS” by Andrew Lloyd Webber will take the stage, lighting up the holiday season with dazzling choreography and timeless songs.
A season that blends tradition and innovation, emotion and virtuosity — celebrating musical excellence in every form.
