Sweet Days of Discipline

“Sweet Days of Discipline” is an exhibition that brings together 44 artists who graduated from Villa Arson in 2023. It is organized by the editors (Alice Dusapin, Martin Laborde, and Baptiste Pinteaux) of the art magazine octopus notes.
“How did you feel a year after leaving school? What was your life like? What can 44 artists who graduated just a year ago have in common?” To help us answer these questions, we asked some artists whose practices clearly resonate with those exhibited in the show.

Ashes of the Arabian’s Pearl – Valentin Valette

The Museum Gallery presents the exhibition by photographer Valentin Valette, winner of the 2024 Satellite Award, as part of the L’IMAGE_SATELLITE festival.

Exhibition – Jànluc Sauvaigo – The 36 Views of Mont Chauve
From 16/05 to 30/11/2024, every day.
Between 2004 and 2010, Jànluc Sauvaigo illustrated a series of sketches of the “Nissan Popular History”, set on Mont Chauve, thus creating the 36 views of Mont Chauve.
The first map is initially inspired by the Japanese painter Hiroshige, while the others evoke Hokusai and his famous Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. The author said, “I wanted to celebrate in my own way a magical place of the country. And in Nice, Mont Chauve was the obvious choice. It is visible from the Paillon and Var basins, almost everywhere.”
Exhibition – A little history of biodiversity

The Museum invites you on a naturalistic walk through the plains and coast to discover the “treasures” of biodiversity in this region, famous worldwide for its half-marine, half-Alpine landscapes.

Exhibition – Californie d’Azur

The Forum, along with the 109 summer program, aligns with the Californian rhythm, with an exhibition that explores the connections between the French Riviera and the Pacific coast, under a title that highlights the color (blue): “California d ‘Azur”.

What happens behind the monumental gates of the Palais Lascaris when it is closed to the public?
Preventive conservation, restoration, proofreading… These activities, carried out behind the scenes, are often unknown to the public. But for this exhibition, the staff of Palais Lascaris want to share their passion and their favorite items to showcase their daily work.

Exhibition – Agapé. The love that changes the world

The iconic hill of Château hosts a monumental exhibition by Italian artist Andrea Roggi.
Three works, including two premieres, “Love, the Future of the World” and “The Future is Us”, will be placed against the natural backdrop of the Château hill and the Bay of Angels. The exhibition is inspired by the Greek concept of love, with impressive bronze sculptures representing nature that blend perfectly with Nice’s environment.

Exhibition – The fullness of emptiness – Bamboo art in Japan
From 27/07/2024 to 05/01/2025, from 10:00 to 17:00.
Closed on Tuesdays.
This exhibition explores the universe of bamboo in Japan, a cultural ensemble that combines the archipelago’s history, its art, and its relationship with China.
Visitors will discover contemporary creations before understanding the roots of a millennia-old tradition in a narrative structured around three major artist lineages.
Exhibition – Jean Mas in shadow and cube

L’Artistique returns with the presentation of the Ferrero Donation Collection and invites Jean Mas for a temporary exhibition.
In 1986, Jean Ferrero proposed to Jean Mas an exhibition titled “The Cubing of the Nice School”, where several artists from the Nice School would create “cubes”. The following year, Jean Mas made 19 wooden cubes of 20x20x20 cm. The exhibition took place, along with the publication of a booklet limited to 100 copies by “Z’éditions”, and as usual, Jean Ferrero decided to keep all these pieces until they became part of his donation to the City of Nice in 2014.

Jivéjigo

Once a month, the wild comedians of ContaBlaBla bring you the improv show “Jivéjigo”.
Since 2005, the Nice improv theater league, Counta BlaBla, has been presenting its improvisation show “Jivéjigo”, where audience interaction drives the evening!
Four actors improvise the most unexpected stories based on challenges set by an energetic host, who relies on the active participation of the audience to suggest words on the fly. So, come with your ideas… the CountaBlaBla will respond with theirs!

Maurice Maubert is from Nice. He is a child of Old Nice, close to the Palais Lascaris. The Mediterranean occupies a special place in his artistic approach.
In this exhibition, the artist invites us to reconnect with our common heritage, the sea. “Aquela Mar,” the title given to the exhibition, means “This sea” in Nice.
This exhibition is divided into three parts for an in-depth artistic exploration.
