From October 30 to November 19, the Monte-Carlo Opera will honor the centenary of Giacomo Puccini’s passing with a series of four unmissable performances.
The series kicks off on October 30 with Pretty Yende in the role of Magda in La rondine. The artist expressed her excitement: “It is an absolute joy and honor for me to give voice to the extraordinary works of Giacomo Puccini.”
On November 8, 10, 13, and 19, La Bohème will take the stage, featuring Anna Netrebko as Mimì and Yusif Eyvazov as Rodolfo. “Puccini’s great masterpieces hold a central place in my repertoire,” the renowned soprano commented.
On November 15, it’s time for Tosca, with Maria José Siri as Floria Tosca and Roberto Alagna as Mario Cavaradossi. Reflecting on Puccini’s work, Alagna stated, “His operas could be seen as one, merging with the reality of his tumultuous life. Everything is about love, both in his music and his works.”
Finally, on November 17, the special event Viva Puccini will feature the tenor Jonas Kaufmann accompanied by soprano Valeria Pepe. Kaufmann expressed his admiration for the composer: “Puccini’s music retains its power, even after a century. I believe it will continue to serve as the key for audiences to access the magical world of opera.”
An extraordinary opportunity to experience the emotions of the great works of one of the most beloved composers in history.
