The Dante Monaco: Events from December 4th to 6th, 2024
The month of December opens with two events of great cultural importance that will take place at the Rainier III Auditorium in Monaco and will be dedicated to beauty in its various aspects and to women in science.
- Wednesday, December 4th, 2024: “LET ME FLY ON THE WINGS OF BEAUTY”
The Dante Alighieri Committee of Monaco is pleased to invite its members and friends to the event “Let Me Fly on the Wings of Beauty”. The event, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Princess of Hanover and under the Patronage of the Embassy of Italy in the Principality of Monaco, will take place on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, with free admission, at the Rainier III Auditorium in Monaco (Boulevard Louis II, Hall C) starting at 6:00 PM (entry at 5:30 PM). “Let Me Fly on the Wings of Beauty” aims to be the spokesperson for the concept that “self-esteem is the starting point to face life beautifully, knowing that we are unique and irreplaceable”. After an introduction by Maria Betti, president of the Dante Alighieri Committee of Monaco, a video message from Anna Fendi, a fashion icon and undisputed ambassador of beauty in the world, will illustrate beauty in the field of fashion. Following this, Giuliana Poli, journalist and writer, will present a lecture titled “From Dante to Michelangelo, Beauty in the Vatican Pietà”, revealing how to interpret an artwork of sublime beauty, uncovering its hidden and secret aspects. The evening will continue with a musical performance by Francesco Boccia, author of the song “Grande Amore” performed by Il Volo, followed by Francesca Bocchi (via video link), Ettore Marinelli, and Raluca Vatavu, founder of Seven Art. The program will conclude with the presentation of the works by sculptor Ettore Marinelli, of the famous Pontifical Foundry of Agnone.

- Friday, December 6th, 2024: THE GENIUS OF WOMEN
The Marzocco Group, in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Committee of Monaco, invites you to a meeting on women in science with mathematician and writer Piergiorgio Odifreddi, which will be held at the Rainier III Auditorium (Hall C) at 7:00 PM, free entry. “THE GENIUS OF WOMEN” by Piergiorgio Odifreddi traces a brief history of women in science, inspired by the author’s eponymous book (Rizzoli 2019). Odifreddi will offer, using images, stories marked by genius, personality, talent, and determination. Among these figures are Hypatia, Madame du Châtelet, Marie Curie, Rita Levi Montalcini, and Maryam Mirzakhani. The meeting will end with a speech titled “Dante and Science,” where Odifreddi, in addition to being a mathematician, will explore the connection between the poet and science.
