The Prince Pierre Foundation of Monaco offers, on Monday, March 25th at 6:30 pm, at the Théâtre des Variétés, a meeting with Bartabas. The founder and director of the equestrian theater Zingaro is invited to discuss his creative process for live performance and writing, revealing the similarities and differences. An exceptional equestrian, choreographer, director, writer, and filmmaker, Bartabas has invented a unique form of live performance: Equestrian Theater, combining equestrian art, dance, music, and comedy. In 1984, he founded his company, the Equestrian Theater Zingaro, which settled at the Fort d’Aubervilliers in 1989 and whose creations are each time events that mark their era and triumph worldwide. For cinema, Bartabas directed Mazeppa (1993), Chamane (1995), Galop arrière (2010), and Les chevaux voyageurs (2019).
After D’un cheval l’autre (Gallimard, 2020) and Les cantiques du corbeau (Gallimard, March 2022), he publishes his third narrative, Un geste vers le bas, with Gallimard in March 2024, where he recounts the singular experience of the German choreographer and dancer Pina Bausch with a Zingaro horse. Upcoming conferences: “Hors les murs”: Philippe GELUCK (writer, painter, sculptor, actor), Thursday, March 28, 7:00 pm, Palais des Académies, Brussels. In Monaco: Eva JOSPIN (plastic artist), Monday, April 15, 6:30 pm, Théâtre des Variétés.
