Monaco will celebrate World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day with a special event dedicated to solidarity, volunteering and humanitarian commitment. On Friday, May 8, 2026, the Monaco Red Cross will host the third edition of its “Open Day”, an initiative designed to introduce the public to the organization’s humanitarian and social activities within the Principality and beyond.
The event will take place at the Monaco Red Cross headquarters on Boulevard de Suisse 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering visitors an immersive experience into the many missions carried out locally and internationally.
The open day represents one of the key moments dedicated to raising awareness about the role of the Red Cross worldwide. Citizens, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to discover the daily work of volunteers and professionals involved in healthcare assistance, social support and humanitarian operations.
The event aims to bring the public closer to the values of solidarity, civic responsibility and support for vulnerable communities through interactive activities, testimonies and educational experiences.
During the event, visitors will be able to explore six thematic areas representing the main missions of the Monaco Red Cross:
Each area will feature demonstrations, interactive workshops and real-life stories showcasing the impact of humanitarian and social initiatives carried out every day by volunteers.
Participants will also learn more about elderly care programs, emergency response operations and international humanitarian projects supported by the organization.
One of the main new attractions of the 2026 edition is the “Volunteer Passport”, an interactive experience guiding visitors through the various stands and activities.
By completing the route and visiting all thematic spaces, participants will receive a special surprise symbolizing the importance of civic engagement and active participation in community life.
The initiative is particularly aimed at encouraging younger generations to discover the value of volunteering.
The morning program will begin with activities specially designed for primary school students from schools in the Principality, including Fontvieille, Condamine and ISM.
Through educational workshops and awareness sessions, children will learn about solidarity, humanitarian values and the important role played by aid organizations in modern society.
The initiative highlights the Monaco Red Cross’ commitment to civic education and youth engagement.
Between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., representatives from the different sections of the Monaco Red Cross will host informational meetings for people interested in becoming volunteers.
These sessions will provide practical information about volunteer opportunities available both locally and internationally, allowing participants to better understand how they can contribute to humanitarian and social missions.
Joining the Monaco Red Cross means becoming part of a global network dedicated to helping vulnerable populations, responding to emergencies and promoting solidarity worldwide.
World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is celebrated every year on May 8 to honor the humanitarian work carried out by millions of volunteers around the world.
