H.E. Ian Borg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta, visited Monaco on January 21 and 22 at the invitation of Ms. Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Counsellor-Minister for Foreign Relations and Cooperation. This working visit aims to strengthen relations between Monaco and Malta, based on shared values, a joint commitment to multilateralism, and a convergent vision for sustainable development.

During his stay, the Deputy Prime Minister notably explored the new Mareterra district, accompanied by Ms. Céline Caron-Dagioni, Counsellor-Minister for Equipment, Environment, and Urban Planning. He also visited the Oceanographic Museum and the Yacht Club of Monaco, symbols of the Principality’s commitment to innovation, ocean preservation, and maritime excellence, priorities also shared by Malta.

The Maltese delegation participated in an economic presentation bringing together Monaco institutions and private sector actors, aimed at identifying new cooperation opportunities, particularly in tourism, yachting, and telecommunications.

On this occasion, H.E. Ian Borg and Mr. Pierre-André Chiappori, Counsellor-Minister for Finance and Economy, signed the updated Double Taxation Agreement between Monaco and Malta.

The visit concluded with a luncheon cocktail hosted by H.E. Mr. Christophe Mirmand, Minister of State, in the presence of government members and Monaco’s Ambassador to Malta, H.E. Ms. Anne Eastwood. This reception highlighted the shared ambition to strengthen and energize collaboration between the two countries.
