Following the success of Das Rheingold, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo continues its ambitious journey through Richard Wagner’s Ring Cycle, presenting a new production of Die Walküre, running from January 23 to 29, 2026, under the direction of Davide Livermore, one of the most innovative and acclaimed figures in contemporary opera.

A central work of Wagner’s tetralogy, Die Walküre immerses the audience in a world dominated by women of extraordinary symbolic strength, where fate, loyalty, and rebellion intertwine in a universe where even the power of the gods is questioned, revealing the deeply human-mythological dimension of the story.

Designed specifically for the Monte-Carlo stage, this production stands out for its immersive set design, in perfect dialogue with the music, the use of period instruments, and an intense dramaturgical construction. The directorial approach aims to convey the full emotional and philosophical complexity of the opera, highlighting its narrative tension and expressive power.

With Die Walküre, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo reaffirms its commitment to presenting great repertoire works in a contemporary perspective, offering the audience a unique theatrical experience that combines musical precision, scenic vision, and mythological grandeur.
