A simple yet powerful gesture opens a new chapter in the long history of the Nice Carnival: a crown placed on a woman’s head. This is the image chosen to represent the 2026 edition, officially unveiled during an evening event at Stockfish and destined to become the symbol of a profound and deliberate transformation of the festival.
The official poster, bright and full of energy, delivers a clear message: “Vive la reine.” For the first time, the Nice Carnival will be led by a Queen. A female figure embodying modernity, joy and expressive strength, described by the city as radiant and authentic, surrounded by a whirlwind of flowers, mimosa blossoms and confetti that evoke the vitality of a celebration deeply rooted in the city’s history.
The Queen’s image also stands out for its aesthetic choices: no regal excess or references to traditional French monarchy, but instead a costume inspired by local folk dress, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. A harmonious balance between memory and innovation, reflecting the dialogue between past and present.
From 11 February to 1 March 2026, Nice will once again transform into a vast open-air stage. The programme confirms the most beloved events while introducing formats that, in recent years, have broadened participation and inclusivity.
The Carnavalina returns — the free parade that attracted more than 32,000 spectators at its debut — alongside six official parades, five of them illuminated, and four spectacular Batailles de Fleurs filling Place Masséna with colour, fragrance and floral displays. Alongside historic highlights such as the Grand Charivari and the prestigious Bal Veglione at the Opéra de Nice, anticipation is growing for the Lou Queernaval, a free, ticketed event that has become a symbol of openness, expression and collective celebration.
Ticket sales will open on 17 December, as city officials look ahead with confidence following the record-breaking 2025 edition, which welcomed over 400,000 spectators.
The event calendar will guide the city through nearly three weeks of festivities, culminating in the evocative Grand Bain de Carnaval and the final celebrations along the Quai des États-Unis, with free access, blending sea, music and tradition.
The Queen is ready to take the throne. And Nice, true to its festive and welcoming spirit, is preparing to celebrate her with enthusiasm, light and the contagious joy that has made its Carnival unique in the world. 🎭👑
