Mr. Pierre-André Chiappori, Minister of Finance and Economy, visited Japan from April 16 to 21, 2025.

In Tokyo, he met with the Vice Minister of Finance and the Vice Minister in charge of Financial Services. Discussions focused on the international context and the economic strengths of both countries. Mr. Chiappori mentioned the tax agreement currently under negotiation between Monaco and Japan, aimed at facilitating trade and the establishment of residents, and expressed his hope for a swift conclusion.

He was also received by the Japanese Friends of Columbia University Association, the French Ambassador, the University of Tokyo, the Head of Crédit Agricole Japan, and the Mitsubishi Research Institute.

He gave a presentation on Monaco’s economy at the French Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

Mr. Chiappori then traveled to Osaka to visit the site of the 2025 World Expo, where he toured several pavilions (Japan, Mitsubishi, France, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Singapore, San Marino). At the Saudi Arabia Pavilion, he met with the organizers of the 2030 World Expo, which will be hosted by the country.

He spent considerable time at the Monaco Pavilion, engaging with the team and speaking with Japanese guests and partners of the Monaco Government Tourist and Convention Authority and the French Chamber of Commerce in Osaka, who were invited for a reception held on the occasion of his visit.

“The World Expo is a wonderful opportunity to promote Monaco to visitors from all walks of life. Thanks to the outstanding work of the team, the Monaco Pavilion fulfills this mission perfectly,” Mr. Chiappori emphasized during the reception.
