H.E. Mrs. Anne-Marie BOISBOUVIER, Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of the Principality of Monaco to UNESCO, launched the celebrations of the Principality’s 75th anniversary of joining UNESCO by inviting accredited Ambassadors to a performance by the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra on February 11th at the Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt.
This concert was conducted by the internationally renowned Mexican conductor, Alondra de la Parra. Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story and Georges Gershwin’s opera Porgy and Bess blended with Astor Piazzolla’s work and arrangements from ‘Orfeu Negro,’ captivating the audience. Guitarist Yamandu Costa and bandoneon player Marin Sued added a theatrical touch to their performances. Under the patronage of H.S.H. the Princess of Hanover, with the support of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and the Princely Government, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra showcases the quality of Monaco’s cultural offerings worldwide. Ambassadors from the United States, Ireland, Brazil, Italy, the Czech Republic, San Marino, Mexico, and Slovenia attended this musical invitation to mark the celebration of 75 years. UNESCO was also represented by Ms. Gabriella Ramos, Assistant Director for Social and Human Sciences. On July 6, 1945, Monaco signed the accession agreement to UNESCO, the specialized agency of the UN responsible for culture, education, and science. For the 75th anniversary, the Permanent Delegation of Monaco will organize several events to highlight the Principality’s international vocation and showcase various Monegasque entities working in these fields.
