On July 5, 2024, H.E. Mrs. Carole Lanteri, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Principality to the United Nations Office in Geneva, attended the 56th session of the Human Rights Council, which reviewed the report on Monaco’s 4th Universal Periodic Review (UPR) on human rights.

On this occasion, H.E. Mrs. Lanteri responded to the recommendations made towards the Principality during its hearing session on January 29, 2024. She reiterated the Government’s unwavering commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights. Several Member States of the Human Rights Council and NGOs expressed their views on this document and praised the Principality’s commitment.

The final report of Monaco’s UPR was adopted by consensus; this adoption marks the end of the 4th cycle of the process. For reference, the UPR is a mechanism established within the framework of the UN Human Rights Council, through which the member and observer States of said Council review the human rights policies of their peers and make recommendations to strengthen them. All UN member states undergo this process every 5 years.
