The Côte d’Azur Turns Orange: A November 25 Dedicated to Ending Violence Against Women

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, 25 November 2025, the Côte d’Azur mobilizes with a series of events and symbolic actions that illuminate its most iconic public spaces in orange — the color chosen by the United Nations.

Nice: light, art and awareness

In Nice, the day begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Lycée Honoré d’Estienne d’Orves, with an information session for students as part of the city’s “Fortnight Against All Forms of Violence”.

In the evening, at 8:00 p.m., culture takes the stage with the dance performance “Parle, Vie et Danse” at Stockfish, created in collaboration with the association THEA and open to the public free of charge.

Throughout the day, the city reaffirms its commitment by illuminating in orange several of its most emblematic landmarks: the #ILoveNice installation, the City Hall, the Bellanda Tower, the Tête Carrée, the Parc Phoenix, and the iconic Hôtel Negresco. A visual reminder of the 48 women killed in the Alpes-Maritimes over the past decade and a strong message against gender-based violence.

Cannes: concrete support and symbolic illumination

In Cannes, the City Hall lights up in orange on 25 November, highlighting the municipality’s commitment to fighting violence against women and supporting those affected.

The city emphasizes the crucial role of Villa Baltz, the only structure in the western part of the department providing emergency accommodation within 72 hours for women in danger, followed by professional guidance and protection.

Cannes also supports several local associations, including:

• Parcours de Femmes, which helps women rebuild their social and professional lives;

• Une Voix pour Elles, which offers free moving services to women leaving violent partners.

Through its CCAS, the city also provides informational meetings and psychological support at the Lycklama center, dedicated to people in situations of high vulnerability.

With lights, cultural events and social action, the Côte d’Azur sends a clear message: violence against women must end.
